Taking Inventory (Novemeber 2011)
In about a month’s time some of us will be making the New year’s resolutions. The other day I decided to take an early inventory that touched on who and what I have been in relationship to others and to my own self.I guess I may have left out the one to do with my line of duty because as per now the leaps and bounds look minimal and maybe somewhere deep inside of me I’m hoping that a kind of a miracle will find its way to where I’m and push the performance scale to above average. In anthropology classes we are told that ‘no man is an island’ and that ‘the human is a social animal’ . Relationships define who we are and I tend to agree with some psychologists view of the fact that there is a direct link between the way you relate to others and the quality of your life.Who and what one is being in relationship to others and themselves thus becomes the starting point to inner peace. We may not go so far in attaining some enviable levels of peace and contentment without having some convictions of the fact that these others ,ourselves and the whole cosmos must have a creator who knows how best to govern His Creations. What I’m stating here is of course what is obvious to so many of us but do we live our lives consciously with these timeless truths edged somewhere in our minds? I’m with simplicity trying to identify with a creator who does not use a fear based creative force full of anger with an unending list of records of rights and wrongs for revenge.I’m embracing the idea of a Creator who creates and governs with the power of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE and He has so graciously given us total freedom to choose how we wish to lead and experience the life He has granted each and every one of us.We are all playing out the possible choices our minds are able to conceive in a world that has infinite choices and possibilities. No wonder the world seems to be moving ever faster with lots of information coming our way each day.At times the dramas we create get a toll on our lives and we are tempted to give our lives away to what will support our unending cycles. We get addicted to power, drugs, fame, sex, money e.t.c. for relieve .But addictions never solved anything and we somehow know this.I’m inviting us all to seriously take an inventory of our lives, reconcile our thinking and entertain the idea even remotely that maybe there might be a better and more sustainable way for a better life when we make a conscious effort to live our lives using a different gear, the one our Creator uses to harmoniously govern the universe. We start loving others as ourselves not because we want them to be in our lives to fulfill some perceived needs but because we understand that we are all interconnected,we are all part of the Whole.Let us be vigilant to the course of becoming better persons and test whether the world will become a better place for us and in effect a better place for all.Let us desire to become what some are calling agents of conscious evolution.
Time is now up for being selfish. It is no longer about my work,my family,my future only.Life is also about our world and about a peaceful world for that matter,
In joyous exchange.
Lydia.
