What is your take? (October 2011)
The blog’s world is developing quite first and there is always something , some opinions coming up every now and then, emails warning us of products that we should avoid lest we develop some serious ailments. Some individuals are even known to have lost their jobs due to ’bad’ emails at work place. I feel that more often that not we are unable to differentiate between facts and a personal opinions.
On the other hand most of our daily conversations are geared towards trying to make the other person/persons buy into our story, emphasize with us and maybe where and when possible get us out of our doldrums. At other times we just want another person to look the way we wish them to be viewed by the world. All in all what comes out from us depends on where an individual is coming from(his/her fears, attitude, core beliefs e.t.c).When I look at the growth of the social networking media, I see a desire so deep, desire to connect with others,a desire to be one. With all the information flowing,we can decide to either take all and in effect be totally confused. There is a tendency to be bound and conformed to this world so to speak by trying to find meaning and understanding for our lives through the issues we are facing.Of course we cannot deny the world we are living in nor the things and circumstances in it.We can instead use these things and circumstances as stepping stones to the awareness of the peace that passeth understanding. How do we get to that point of attaining the peace that paseth all understanding when ,the dollar has hit an all time high mark, our preferred presidential candidate is facing the ICC and we are not sure of the outcome,we are no longer sure of what is good for our health, we can no longer keep up with issues affecting our children…the list is endless. When we talk of peace,we start touching on things of the heart where favorable outcomes depend on the choice of the individual.I think its time for each and every one of us to stop arguing over what religion/teaching has the right interpretation ,who is going to bring peace and stability in our nation, who is going to work another wonder and bring the dollar to an agreeable mark within the shortest time possible…time is now ripe for all of us,lets roll up our sleeves and start working on ’ourselves’.Let us do the honest works of evaluating our attitudes, our beliefs, our emotions and see what needs to change.I do not see ourselves being effective agents of peace if deep down within us we are in serious conflicts with our own selves. We may wait for ever and ever to be happy and content if we still think that the world and others need to change first…and to quote MAHATMA GANDHI…LET US ALL BE THE CHANGE THAT WE WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD
In Oneness,
Lydia.
